Clevedon cyclist killed by pothole council had failed to repair, despite police warning
The widow of a Clevedon cyclist killed after hitting a pothole is to sue a council which failed to repair it, despite a warning from police.
Martyn Uzzell, who was 51, was on a Land’s End to John O’Groats charity cycle ride with two friends when he hit a 10cm (4in) deep pothole on the A65 at Giggleswick, North Yorkshire and was thrown into the path of a VW Golf driving behind him. The driver of the car, travelling at about 50mph and only a car’s length away from the group, was unable to avoid Mr Uzzell, who died instantly of severe head injuries.
