Llanfaethlu schoolboy cycles from Land’s End to John o’ Groats for Alzheimer’s Society

A 14-YEAR-OLD schoolboy has raised thousands of pounds for charity by cycling the length of Britain.

Nathan Bailey, of Llanfaethlu, pedalled from Land’s End to John o’ Groats for the Alzheimer’s Society, raising more than £2,600 in the process.

Nathan, a pupil at St Gerard’s, Bangor, was joined on the 980-mile journey by his father, Mark.

Steve Prescott to cycle Land’s End to John O’Groats and climb Three Peaks

The former Hull FC star Steve Prescott MBE, who is battling stomach cancer, is already looking ahead to his next charity challenge.

The 36-year-old is planning to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats in June next year to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation, which he set up in 2007.

But not content with just cycling, Steve is also aiming to climb the national Three Peaks – Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in England and Ben Nevis in Scotland – along the way.

Cyclist’s anger over rail firm’s minibus offer

An end-to-end cyclist has hit out at ScotRail after being left stranded at Thurso Railway Station. advertising

Having just completed an 800-mile trip from Land’s End to John O’Groats with his brother, Matthew Robbins’ journey came to a halt when he discovered his train had been cancelled and just an eight-seater minibus provided as an alternative.

He was among many travellers on the Far North rail line who were left stranded on Friday after two trains to Inverness were cancelled.

Second time lucky for Lechlade cyclist

A CYCLIST has completed a 1,000-mile charity fundraiser at the second attempt after a crash put him out of action for 12months.

It was second time lucky for Adam Druett, of Lechlade who has returned from a successful attempt to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

But his feat is even more impressive than most as it came just 12 months after he destroyed his bike and damaged his knee ligaments when he crashed into a wall at 35mph.

University of Bath student wants distance cycle record

A Bath student is getting on his bike in a bid to set a new record.

Ben Rockett, a postgraduate student from the University of Bath, is taking on the challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats and back again.

Ben set off on Saturday, 21 August aiming to cycle the 1,781 miles in just six days – he has a support team of fellow students with him.
