CHARD: Wheelers friends’ charity challenge

TWO members of 1st Chard Wheelers are to embark on a Lands End to John O’ Groats bike ride on April 28th, taking the classic route at record rate.

Whilst most cyclists take between 10 and 14 days to complete the 874 miles, Ivan Henry and Colin Gibbons, 42-year-old friends since childhood, have set themselves the gruelling target of six days, averaging 150 miles each day, or a daily 8-10 hours in the saddle.

Danny MacAskill – Way Back Home – NEW street trials riding short film

Way Back Home is the incredible new riding clip from Danny MacAskill, it follows him on a journey from Edinburgh back to his hometown Dunvegan, in the Isle of Skye.

Sorry this is nothing to do with the End2End cycle, but it’s so great just had to post it here!

Hillwalkers urged to register for text 999 service

“Hillwalkers and climbers who go to remote places with bad mobile phone reception have been advised to register for a service that allows 999 calls to be made by text.” source: http://news.stv.tv/scotland/210134-hillwalkers-urged-to-register-for-text-999-service/.

I think setting up for your mobile, if doing the End2End cycle would be a great idea 2. I know in the Highlands section of the cycle, even on the A and B class roads, the mobile network is not at it’s best.

To register, text “register” to 999. You will get a reply; then follow the instructions you are sent. This will only take approx two minutes of your time and could save your life.
